The Yemen Polling Center (YPC), Yemen’s most experienced and only independent polling and research organization, is looking to fill one of its key positions. As Research Coordinator your responsibility is to ensure smooth operation of all field research processes and the timely implementation of our international research projects.

YPC is proud to be serving the Yemeni and international community with its high-quality research products since 2004. In over 120 projects researching various aspects of Yemen’s politics, economics, society, media or security, YPC has contributed substantially to knowledge production on Yemen, programming of international donor organizations and decision-making of local and international functionaries. In 2020, YPC wants to further increase its data collection capacity on an organizational level.

YPC is a highly decentralized organization, operating from three offices within Yemen, field research teams in all of the country’s governorates and with members of the team, as well as donors and clients in various countries and time zones around the world. The Research Coordinator operates at the intersection of these geographical spheres and the node of fieldwork and management. Her/his responsibility is to organize, manage and oversee processes related to data collection in Yemen by working with the management level of YPC, ensuring an effective, timely and smooth operation. The Research Coordinator uses and develops creative methods to improve the efficiency of organizational and management processes, has excellent communicative skills, can work independently, while she/he is sensitive to the needs of a long-standing team.

The candidate we are looking for is a self-starter, highly organized and motivated natural manager, with at least 4 years of work experience in an international organization, large civil society organization, or private sector company. Candidates with experience in communication with international donors and clients, as well as experience in remote working are preferred.

YPC prefers the candidate to be located in Taiz, Yemen. Highly qualified candidates who are not based in Taiz, but meet all requirements outlined in this job announcement will be considered for a remote position. YPC will pay a competetive salary.

Essential skills are:

  • Excellent command of Arabic and English (verbal and written);
  • Organizational and time management talent;
  • Creative and critical thinking;
  • Well versed in various computer and internet programs;
  • Work experience in a management position.

Preferred skills:

  • University degree;
  • Experience with working with Trello, Slack, Google Drive and other digital remote working tools;
  • Experience in research and report writing.
