YPC IS HIRING A COMMUNICATIONS AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

The Yemen Polling Center (YPC), Yemen’s most experienced and only independent polling and research organization, is looking to fill the position of Communications and Administrative Assistant. As Communications and Administrative Assistant, your responsibility is the implementation of YPC’s communication strategy and assisting in basic administrative processes.

As such your main responsibility is to independently implement YPC’s communication strategy, while creatively develop solutions and approaches to achieving a positive and constructive office culture for a research organization that works predominantly remotely. Some assistance in administrative processes will be required on a regular basis.

YPC is proud to be serving the Yemeni and international community with its high-quality research products since 2004. In over 120 projects researching various aspects of Yemen’s politics, economics, society, media or security, YPC has contributed substantially to knowledge production on Yemen, programming of international donor organizations and decision-making of local and international functionaries. In 2020, YPC wants to further increase its data collection capacity on an organizational level. YPC is a highly decentralized organization, operating from three offices within Yemen, field research teams in all of the country’s governorates and with members of the team, as well as donors and clients in various countries and time zones around the world.

YPC implements projects mainly focused on security-related issues, which aim to improve the security of communities in Yemen, as well as influence the programming of international organizations/donors. Being in charge of YPC’s social media channels, you will shape YPC communication together with the team’s researchers and writers. The Communications and Administrative Assistant will develop creative ideas for the nurturing of a constructive and team-oriented virtual office culture. Secondary responsibilities will include assisting the managing staff in administrative processes related to contracting, HR or contact management.

The candidate we are looking for is a self-starter, highly organized and motivated, with excellent English/Arabic skills and experience in WordPress and common newsletter formats.

YPC prefers the candidate to be located in Taiz, Yemen. Highly qualified candidates who are not based in Taiz, but meet all requirements outlined in this job announcement will be considered for a remote position.

  • Excellent command of Arabic and English (verbal and written);
  • Organizational and time management talent;
  • Creative and critical thinking;
  • Team-oriented and good communicator;
  • WordPress; newsletter formats, social media knowledge;
  • Well versed in various computer and internet programs;
  • Internet access.
