Holding a degree in journalism from Sana'a University, Faculty of Mass Information, Hafez has a long experience of working as a journalist and reporter for several Yemeni and foreign media outlets. In 2004, Hafez was elected as General Secretary of the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate. As research fellow at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) in Washington, D.C. from October 2006 to August 2007, he conducted research on freedom of press in the Arab world. As founder of YPC, he specialized in media and public opinion research.

Holding a Master degree in Political Science with minors in Islamic Studies and Contemporary History from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, Mareike is the Head of Research at YPC. She is also a co-editor of Muftahs Yemen and Gulf country pages, and is currently a fellow at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs in Berlin.

Holding a Master degree in Arabic Language and Literature, Abdulsalam is the Head of Project Assistance at YPC. Currently, Abdulsalam towards a PhD in political sociology in a project funded by the Volkswagen Foundation at the University of Erlangen-Nurember, Germany. Next to his research in political sociology, he is working on a PhD dissertation at the Arabic Language and Literature department at Sana'a University. Abdulsalam is specialized in discourse analysis and has published academic articles in English and Arabic language. At YPC, Abdulsalam supervises the Project Assistance Department, including research, translation, layout design and editing.
