Yemen Parliament Project (2009 - 2011 and 2012 - 2014)

YPC is currently implementing a lengthy project with the Yemeni Parliament. In its first phase, the project was funded by the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) (2009-11).

In this period, the project included in the project are numerous public polls on women’s political rights and participation, public awareness of Parliament, and the ongoing electoral reform process.

Additionally the project includes training civil society organizations on lobbying Parliament and journalists on how to report on Parliamentary matters, as well as conducting numerous workshops. In the second phase of the project, the Yemen Parliament Watch was funded by the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI). In this period, the project aimed at strengthening channels between Parliament and youth and did so by supporting the establishment of the Youth Lobby Group.

The project also aimed at improving media-parliament relations. For that end, YPC supported the establishment of the Yemen Association for Parliamentary Journalists (YAPJ).
